Working for a careers site like Monster -- which has more than a million job posts -- it can be all too easy to start daydreaming about the super cool jobs that come across our desks and our computer screens every day. Right now, it's Fashion Week in New York, so some of the trendier people among us are daydreaming about careers in fashion -- this week's cool jobs are "sew" cool!
1. Fashion Retail Copywriter, Bloomingdale's (New York City)Bloomingdale's is looking for a junior to mid-level copywriter who "loves playing with words, wit and fashion." The job involves writing "sparkling, enthusiastic headlines and copy for newspaper and magazine ads, catalogs and invitations for special events," and helping Bloomingdale's to develop "engaging seasonal campaigns." 2. Corporate Fashion Recruiter, Forever 21 (Los Angeles)Say you've got two to five years' general HR experience, you want to work with committed fashionistas, and you speak Mandarin. Well, Forever 21 wants you! 3. Adjunct Faculty - Fashion Retail Management, The Art Institutes (Tinley Park, IL):Inspire tomorrow's trendsetters and set the styles for fashion retail management -- fashion faculty wanted: "The adjunct instructor facilitates meaningful learning ... and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment." In this position, you'll "enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace." 4. Barbie Fashion Designer, Mattel (El Segundo, CA): Was this your childhood dream job? Get paid to dress up Barbie! And even better, Mattel was named one of Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" in 2011 (for the fourth year in a row). With job opportunities like this, we're hardly surprised. 5. Sr. Designer – Men's Knits & Sweaters, Calvin Klein (New York City)But if you prefer subtler menswear textiles to the tulle and glitter Barbie often wears, you may want to turn your design sensibilities to Calvin Klein, as the designer responsible for CK's seasonal collections.
